BCRs and other Rings (excludes Clickers)
BCRs (Ball Closure Rings) are products where the tension of the ring holds the ball in place. To open: hold the ring part on either side of the ball and pull it away from the ball, the ball then drops out, so best to do this on a tray or have something to catch the ball! To close: squeeze the ring together to secure the ball. If it's easier you can gently squeeze together the ring without the ball in place, then put the ball in when you've made the ring a little smaller. A BAR CLOSURE RING is the same as above but it has a bar instead of a ball. For larger gauges you may need ring opening pliers and ring closing pliers. CONTINUOUS TWIST RINGS: to open, hold an end in each hand, then pull one end towards your body and push the other end away from your body. Your ring will look like a spiral shape. DO NOT pull the 2 ends away from each other, rather like opening a bag of crisps, as this can damage the ring. N.B. this can be done by hand for small gauge products. For larger gauges you may need pliers.
